Emma-Louise Dyer, Teaching Assistant
Teaching at Winterbourne Academy
I studied Psychology at University and then worked in a variety of part time jobs. I was working as an office assistant at a solicitors’ firm in Bristol when I applied for the role of Teaching Assistant at Winterbourne Academy.
I attended this school when I was a child and was lucky enough to be offered the position.
As part of my training I receive the support of the rest of the team around me, in addition to internal teacher training days and outside organisations running sessions e.g. Epilepsy Action.
“I enjoy my role, every day is different”
I enjoy my role, every day and every lesson is different, reflecting the differences in the children that we work with. I feel rewarded when children learn from you and benefit from having you there, and when they seek out your help.
It’s exciting to work as part of the Trust – it means I can learn from other schools and they can learn from ours about how to deliver the best for the children we teach.
