Olympus Academy Trust

Jordan Bowden, IT Support Technician

Starting an Apprenticeship at Olympus Trust

I wanted to get into the IT industry as I am passionate about computers and gaming so I applied for the IT apprenticeship position that Olympus were advertising.

Throughout my level 3 IT Infrastructure Technician apprenticeship, I received training on 5 individual modules (Networking & Architecture, Mobility & Devices, Cloud Services, Coding & Logic, Business Processes) which I was able to refer back and apply into the workplace.

As an employee at Olympus Academy Trust, I also receive online training on safeguarding, health & Safety and Fire safety as this is essential to our job roles.

I feel a valued member in the IT Support Team. I feel appreciated by teachers, staff and students and know that what we do has an positive impact on the school learning environment to allow lessons to happen and staff to work with minimum disruption.

“I feel proud working for Olympus and there are opportunities to progress”

I feel every day is new and exciting.  I’m never quite sure what jobs I will have that day, for example repairing a laptop one day, the next I could be replacing a projector etc.

I feel proud working for Olympus. There are opportunities to progress and learn new things in the IT area as Olympus are looking to put me through a level 4 IT Networking apprenticeship once I have completed level 3.
