Trust Governor Vacancies
At Olympus, we work collaboratively across all our schools to provide the best possible education and outcomes for the learners in our care.
As a Trust, we are responsible for the education of more than 6500 learners aged 3 -18 across 10 settings. These include a Nursery, 5 Primary schools, 3 Secondary schools, one All through school (Age 4-18) and a Technical college. All are based in the South Gloucestershire area no more than a 20 minute drive from each other.
Our vision is to establish our schools at the heart of the community and to equip our learners to be responsible individuals who are able to make a meaningful contribution to society.
Olympus is governed by a Board of Trustees who are responsible for holding the CEO to account. Whilst the Board has overall responsibility for the organisation, School Improvement Committees oversee the interests and performance of each school and are made up of Trust Governors from the Community, Parent and Staff bodies. Trust Governors are pivotal in providing appropriate challenge and support to the School Leadership Teams with the ultimate aim of improving learner outcomes and progress. The school, as a civic leader, is accountable to and a representative of the community in which it is based and which it serves and all Trustees and Governors act in line with the Nolan Principles for Public life.
We are currently looking for Trust Governors to join the School Improvement Committees at several of our schools. If you feel you, or someone you know, would be interested in this opportunity, please contact louise.day@olympustrust.co.uk for more details and an application form. We want our committees to reflect the communities in which they serve and so welcome applications from all ages and backgrounds.
Please state in your application if there is a particular school or phase (i.e Primary or Secondary) you would be interested in being involved with. Please note that an Enhanced DBS and suitability checks will be carried out on all applications.
The role of Trust Governor is challenging but rewarding. It may push you out of your comfort zone at times whilst you get to grips with what may be an unfamiliar sector with unfamiliar terminology but the benefits far outweigh the challenges. Induction, support and training will be provided from the very start of your journey.
