Support for Parents with Attendance
Attendance help and advice
Where a parent or carer has concerns about their child’s attendance, we really want to hear from you so that we can work together to reduce absence from school. You should still do everything you can to help your child attend as much as possible whilst waiting for help and support to be put into place.
We know that for some children, attending school and the routine of learning is more difficult - please do not hesitate to get in touch with us. Your first point of contact should be your child’s Class Teacher in your Primary School or Tutor, Head of Year in your Secondary School. These staff will work with you and your child to overcome the issues. They will agree a set of joint actions to support your child and will arrange times to review these actions and your child’s progress. Depending on the reasons for your child’s absence, this may take the form of an action plan, medical support plan, individual health care plan, an early help plan, or a parenting contract.
Would you like to talk to someone now about any concerns you have about your child?
We want our parents and carers to have access to the support they need when they need it. We commission Health Assured to provide a 24 hour 7 days a week helpline for parents.
